Need a simple swiftie Halloween costume? Look no further! This is the perfect Taylor Swift costume if you’re looking for something easy to pull together.
Taylor wore this iconic outfit when she performed at the 2019 VMA’s. It showcases the titles of all of her stolen albums. You can see the performance and the costume here. 🙂 Isn’t it crazy to think that when she wore this the concept of Taylor’s Version wasn’t even a thing and now we’re days away from the release of her FOURTH rerecording?!? This is probably classified as a throwback Taylor Swift costume at this point, but it’s iconic either way.
The main focus of this costume is the shirt, which I thrifted and then used my Cricut and Iron-On Vinyl to create the album titles. You can follow my tutorial here for cutting vinyl on a Cricut. Just make sure to use the Iron-On setting so your letters are mirrored and cut correctly!
I used the font “Stencil” for my letters. The hardest part of this project was figuring out what size to cut each title at. It will vary depending on the size of shirt you use, but here is what I used for reference:
- Taylor Swift: 11.3″ x 2.2″ (TAYLOR, printed horizontally, then each letter was cut and aligned vertically on the sleeve) 5.6″ x 1.5″ (SWIFT)
- Fearless*: 15.82″ x 2.5″
- Speak Now*: 15.71″ x 2.17″
- Red: 6.89″ x 2.5″
- 1989: 7.35″ x 2.4″
- Reputation*: 12.96″ x 1.6″
*These are total widths, but anything over 12″ I divided onto separate lines because I used a 12×12 cutting mat.
Once you’ve done the DIY portion of your costume, complete the look with these items:
- Tan fishnet tights (I ordered mine to be pretty loose fitting because I was planning on wearing nude tights underneath for some extra warmth)
- Heeled boots (I thrifted my black boots, but they’re originally from Old Navy. If you want to be even more authentic you could find gold boots or even use gold spray paint, but I wanted to be able to reuse these shoes)
- Red lipstick (I used Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Pioneer, it does. not. budge)
- Blonde wig (I didn’t end up wearing this, tbh I just didn’t want to deal with it, but here’s the link if you’re more dedicated than I am)
Happy Swiftie-ing 🙂
